Our Commitment to Responsible Business Practices
How Best Choice Trailers handles waste, recycling, and environmental compliance across our Pennsylvania dealerships and service centers.
Last Updated: July 6, 2026
A Practical, Honest Approach to Sustainability
We're a trailer dealership, not a manufacturing plant — but the way we operate our lots and service bays still has an environmental footprint. We take that seriously and manage it the same practical way we run the rest of our business.
Scrap Metal Recycling
Scrap steel, aluminum, and other metal generated during trade-in processing, repairs, or fabrication work is separated and sent to licensed metal recyclers rather than landfilled.
Fluid & Battery Disposal
Used oil, hydraulic fluid, and batteries from trailer service work are collected and disposed of through licensed waste handlers in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Tire Recycling
Old tires removed during service or replaced under warranty are sent to approved tire recycling facilities rather than discarded as general waste.
Reduced Paper Use
We handle financing applications, quote requests, and much of our paperwork digitally, reducing the volume of paper used across our four locations.
Facility Efficiency
As we update or expand our locations, we prioritize energy-efficient lighting and equipment where it makes practical and financial sense.
Built to Last
We stand behind manufacturers known for durable construction. A trailer that lasts longer means fewer replacements and less material waste over time.
Our Environmental Practices in Detail
Waste Management & Recycling
Our dealership and service operations generate typical waste streams found at any trailer sales and repair facility: scrap metal, used tires, spent batteries, and used fluids from maintenance and warranty work. We work with licensed waste haulers and recyclers to manage these materials responsibly rather than sending recoverable materials to a landfill.
Hazardous Materials Handling
Used oil, hydraulic fluid, coolant, and batteries generated by our service departments are stored in accordance with applicable state and federal guidelines and picked up by licensed disposal partners. We train our service staff on proper handling and spill-prevention procedures to reduce the risk of soil or water contamination at our facilities.
Regulatory Compliance
We operate our dealerships and service centers in accordance with applicable Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP) requirements and federal EPA regulations governing waste handling, storage, and disposal for automotive and trailer service facilities.
Manufacturer Partnerships
We work with manufacturers such as Sure-Trac, Lamar, Big Tex, Iron Bull, and others who build trailers designed for long service life. Aluminum trailer options we carry also offer a lighter-weight, corrosion-resistant alternative that can reduce towing fuel consumption compared to heavier steel equivalents of the same class.
Trade-Ins & Reuse
We accept trade-ins on trailers of any age or condition. Trailers with continued useful life are reconditioned and resold rather than scrapped, extending their service life and reducing demand for new raw materials.
How We Handle Waste at Our Locations
A straightforward look at what happens to common waste materials generated at our dealerships and service bays.
Separation
Scrap metal, tires, batteries, and fluids are separated at the point of service, not mixed with general trash.
Proper Storage
Hazardous materials are stored in approved containers on-site until pickup, reducing risk of spills or leaks.
Licensed Pickup
Licensed recyclers and waste handlers collect materials for proper processing or recycling.
Documentation
We keep records of hazardous waste pickups to remain compliant with state and federal reporting requirements.
Considering an Aluminum Trailer?
Aluminum trailers are lighter, more corrosion-resistant, and can improve fuel efficiency while towing. Ask our team if one fits your hauling needs.

We view environmental responsibility the same way we view customer service and product quality — as an ongoing part of running the business well, not a one-time policy we wrote and filed away. As regulations, materials, and best practices evolve, we update our processes accordingly.
Environmental Policy FAQs
Do you recycle old trailers you take in on trade?
Trade-in trailers with remaining useful life are reconditioned and resold. Trailers that are no longer safely usable are broken down, with scrap metal sent to licensed metal recyclers.
How do you dispose of used oil and batteries from service work?
Used oil, fluids, and batteries are stored properly on-site and picked up by licensed waste and recycling handlers in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Are aluminum trailers more environmentally friendly than steel?
Aluminum trailers are generally lighter and more corrosion-resistant, which can reduce towing fuel consumption and extend service life compared to a similarly sized steel trailer. Ask our team which construction type fits your use case.
Do you have a formal environmental certification?
We are not currently certified under a specific third-party environmental program. This policy reflects our internal practices and compliance with applicable state and federal waste handling regulations.
